Operation get your life

Yes. Today was my first day back at the GYM! Seriously on 30 min and I am sore as they come.Any who?  My friend is an aspiring trainer and today was awesome. So it was kinda crazy. The session started with a therapy session. Which was the moment I needed to have. How did I get to this weight? How do I feel now? What am I going to do about it? Truly though I find that I have made some true improvements with self esteem. After we had my 15 min session. I got a chance to eat a yogurt and banana. I was starving tremendously and I had to stop and get some food. Why? Because between preaching and sleeping an whatever else going on in this life of mine I did not eat a thing. SO at 7-Eleven I got a tomato and turkey on cracked wheat. Actually it was delish. ON our way to the Gym. Now girls, Like I mentioned in my last post I was not looking forward to going to the Gym since it has been like 4-5 months. Seriously though, I only worked on interval levels for 30 min and I am truly sore. Lynaya was a great motivator and we fed off our determined energy to succeed today. After making a quick Old Navy run to look for Cute Work Out gear(My next post is going to be about looking cute and working out). We found ourselves back at Lynayas making green smoothies. (see below pic). It is not that bad. An acquired taste I must say. But today was great!!! So ladies I feel good. And what I like about myself is that I looked cute working out not settling for my bleached throwaways.

Lets Get it,

Why when under trial you turn to Fries?

I mean seriously that question haunts me as I go through different tragedies. Someone stole my computer, my family and I feel so violated. The bible speak about these things happening but it doesn't hit you until you go through things. SO why do the burgers, milkshakes, fries, chocolate, melted cheese feel so good during this time? I cant keep turning to these things for comfort any longer. This weekend I am going on a GYM DATE with a close friend. I wanted to go out to eat my problems away, but instead she said something profound " How about we go to the GYM?" When she uttered those words I was like you were about to do it again!!! SO instead of me going to Red Lobster to eat my fave Ultimate Feast(hold the fried shrimp and double up on the delish shrimp scampi) I will be hitting the gym for the first time in about 6 months. I get depressed walking in there as they judge me but again that saying I CHOOSE ME! Has help me not worry about what other people say about me  but me being productive IS THE FACTOR. SO I want to say thanks to Fitblackchic (http://fitblackchic.blogspot.com/). She is on a mission and she helped me when under trial. SO what do I like about myself today: I am a go getter when it comes to things that are  important to me. Now all I have to do is make eating healthier and working out important!!!

Lets get it!!!

Last Mcdouble

Just had a Mcdouble due to low fundage. Cant wait to get paid and start planning? I am about to register for the breast cancer walk for May. Even though tasty, its depressing. I think I am going to do a combo of dance classes, zumba and the gym. So goodbye mcdouble with mac sauce. Can't have you everyday but once every 6 months. Why is healthy food so expensive. Got to have a 401k for a salad now a days. Oh well no more excuses. Planning here I come!!!

What I like about myself today is that I am alive LOL! Thanks to Jehovah.

Love,
Chantal

Recipes!!

Hello lovebugs,

I LOVE to snack. Dare I say, it's my favorite pasttime (after karaoke, of course). Its like I always have to be chewing. Shameful, really... Anyway, some time ago, I was inspired by my favorite doctor EVER, Mehmet Oz (I love that guy. He's hot, super smart and knows his stuff about health). As part of a fitness challenge, he gave some tips for success. One of those tips was to strip your cupboards of all unhealthy food and snack items. That will reduce temptation greatly. That stuck with me since I heard it. Now, because I live with people who have no intention of putting away the bad foods, and would likely kill me and sell my parts if I tried, I came up with a better solution. I stock my kitchen doubly with healthy snacks. That being said (I talk too much), I have a recipe for you guys to try out.

Yummy granola

Ingredients:
3 cups thick whole grain oats (uncooked, I use Silver Palate brand)
1 cup nuts of your choice ( I like almonds, sunflower seeds, cashews & pecans)
1 cup dried fruit of your choice (I like cranberries. You can also use apricots, papaya, raisins, etc.)
1 tbsp vanilla
1 tbsp cinnamon (depending on how much you like cinnamon, you could cut that measurement in half)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup packed brown sugar (as a healthier option, you can cut this measurement in half. And I would recommend this if you want to eat the granola as cereal. 1/3 cup of sugar washed into your milk? No bueno)
1 cup pure maple syrup (instead of syrup, I use a mix of honey and agave nectar. You can also cut that down to 3/4 cup)

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
2. Mix ingredients together in a large bowl.
3. Transfer onto a large baking sheet sprayed with non-stick butter flavored spray.
4. Bake for 35-45 min, stirring once halfway through cooking (I wouldn't leave it in for more than 40. 35 should do it).
5. Let sit and cool completely on tray.
6. Store in airtight jars or containers.

Warning: Makes lots of granola

Eat it as a snack, pour it on top of some yogurt. Eat it as cereal. Whenever youre having a craving, go for the  healthier option.

Here's to a life full of healthier options!

Love ya,
Lyndsey
